NOMINAL RATE OF ASSISTANCE (NRA)

Nominal Rate of Assistance (NRA) measures the extent of market price distortion of agricultural products caused by border measures, such as tariffs, quotas, trade bans, export taxes, etc., and fiscal subsidies in the form of production targeted, inputs, and other types of payments. NRA thus provides a more complete picture of the extent of producer support to the agricultural sector. NRA is measured as the ratio of total support over value of production at reference or undistorted price.
